My sweet girl turned 14 last month! Anyone who knows me knows that Sandy is the most precious thing in my life. I have had her since I was 12 years old, and I wanted nothing more than a dog. I would pray every night, “Lord please let me have a dog, the right dog, at the right time.” Sure enough, God set up the right dog in the right situation at the right time. She was the runt of a litter that my Aunt’s Goldens had and she needed some extra care during a family Thanksgiving in Georgia. She truly was and is a gift in my life, she is my home. At 14 she is silvering beautifully. Her hips like to cause a little trouble for her. I think her hearing is almost gone (or she has mastered selective hearing). Her new friend is our kitten Boo- who loves to rub on Sandy and take naps with her during the day. Sandy is tolerant.
Sandy was there for my first love, my first heartbreak, my driver’s license, my first job, my first car, my slumber parties, my birthdays. She was there for several family trips- to Pennsylvania, Miami, North Carolina. Sandy was there when Daniel proposed… I am SO thankful to be home with her now, to be with her and help her. To offer extra love and brushing for being such a good, kind, patient, and understanding friend.
I was able to take her to the studio at school to document her turning 14. This is priceless. My mom would probably kill me that I posted a photo of her. But these are images I love.
