Any cake smash is a blast to photograph. For me though, it’s extra special when it’s a senior dog who hits a big milestone like the double digits! Bailey enters her senior years with grace as we celebrate with her.
It’s no secret that I am a huge animal lover. My old girl makes me even more in love with the senior dogs. As they age, they are so sweet and just want to be with you more than anything. I first photographed my Sandy’s milestone when she turned 14: see the gallery here. I felt even more fortunate when we got to celebrate another year of life with her at 15! Sandy’s 15th Birthday.
When a friend asked for me to photograph her sweet girl turning 10… YES! I believe with all my heart anyone who has a dear furry friend should get these milestones photographed, just like we would with babies and children. The best part about having a studio located at my home is that I have a fenced-in yard and it’s so easy to accommodate sessions with pets. There’s plenty of room for breaks if they are nervous or over-stimulated, potty breaks, and a place to sniff around while we get ready for the session.
Pink and Gold was this cake smash theme. Bailey’s mom did amazing finding all the details to create this beautiful set! I am in love with those gold confetti balloons too! A home-made, dog-friendly cake with extra sprinkles made for one happy dog. Here’s a site I found of some dog-friendly birthday cakes: Dog Birthday Cake Recipes. Between you and me, I tasted Sandy’s and I have to say… not bad at all!
Bailey is a gentle girl and reminds me of my sweet Sandy. I love every minute of photographing families and their pets. Miss Bailey definitely made this one easy for us.
