In June I traveled to Tampa to photograph baby E’s One Year Milestone! His mom and I met in zoo school years ago and we both became penguin keepers! When I worked at the Jacksonville Zoo, Kristen and I even had our penguins meet through facetime. It was too funny. I think we enjoyed it more than the penguins did! I was so happy to finally meet Kristen’s little boy, document his first birthday milestone with a cake smash, AND meet the penguins I facetimed with years ago. Keep scrolling to see some of my favorites from his session at Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park.
The penguins sure put a smile on Everett’s face, but there was so much curiosity between him and the Galapagos tortoise! Check out how this tortoise was so curious about having a tiny human sitting next to him. These are some of my favorites.
The thing I love most about photographing around zoos is that there is always an interesting element or scene to photograph in front of! Like this amazing key door that gave just the right backdrop for portraits. I had no idea what to expect from this session but luckily I brought just the right colors to match. Kristen brough the CUTEST outfits for Everett and it all came together wonderfully.
Everett’s toothy smile is so sweet! I usually end One Year Cake Smash sessions with a bubble bath or milk bath. Since we were at the zoo, it only made sense to utilize the splash area! He was memorized by water as it erupted in front of him. A great way to cool off after a hot walk around the zoo all morning. I am so thankful to the keepers and Kristen for setting up such a fun session. The best part about these sessions is being creative with parents about locations! I can’t wait to see what we come up with next!
